Ten Ways to Kill an Association
- Don’t come to the meetings.
- If you do come, come late.
- If the weather doesn’t suit you, don’t come.
- If you attend a meeting, find fault with the work of the officers and other members.
- Never accept an office since its easier to criticize than do.
- Never the less, get upset if you are not appointed to a committee. If you are appointed to a committee, don’t attend the meetings.
- If asked by the president to give your opinion on a matter, say you have nothing to say. In the parking lot after the meeting, tell everyone how things should be done.
- Do nothing more than is absolutely necessary. But when others roll up their sleeves, willingly and unselfishly using their ability to help matters along, say that the association is being run by a “clique”.
- If the association is struggling financially to maintain projects on your behalf, be sure to gather all the help you can to vote against a raise in dues.
- Don’t recruit new member. Let the others do it.
